May 01, 2026

Are you ready to embrace a new chapter that truly reflects your passions and values? In this post, we’ll walk you through upgrading your internal iOS for lasting success, spotting and shifting when your default mindset is holding you back, and discovering the power of dynamic balance through Polarity Intelligence®. This week's featured video podcast brings these insights to life by sharing honest stories and practical strategies from courageous women leaders who have made the leap and designed deeply meaningful encore careers that may even include entrepreneurship.

Here are the 3 key takeaways:

  1. Why letting go of old habits and mindsets is the gateway to fulfillment
  2. Real-life moments when purpose demands a bold pivot
  3. How balancing “being” and “doing” is crucial for sustainable growth

Ready to transform your encore journey?

Think about your smartphone or computer. You cannot access new features or run advanced applications without upgrading the foundational software. As a woman navigating the complexities of life's transitions, you're not alone. To truly thrive in your next chapter, it's essential to upgrade your internal operating system.

By reframing your core mindset, you can redefine your standards of business excellence and escape the exhaustion of the corporate hustle.

Let's explore how you can redefine your approach to remaster your life and work,  ensuring your Executive Encore is both flexible and deeply meaningful.

What is your internal iOS?
Your internal operating system (iOS) consists of three core components: your identity, your beliefs, and your values. This concept, championed by Michelle Troseth and Dr. Tracy Christopherson, co-founders of MissingLogic® and known as The Polarity Power Pair, highlights a fundamental truth about personal growth.

You cannot achieve a new, desired outcome using outdated mindsets. What got you to the executive suite will not necessarily help you build a thriving encore career or a sustainable independent business.

While your investment in personal and professional development has created a foundation for greatness in your Executive Encore, leaning too heavily on who you have been restricts your ability to evolve into who you need to be. Transitioning successfully requires a deliberate, inside-out transformation.

Is your default iOS silently sabotaging you?
Many female executives are unknowingly indoctrinated with a specific corporate belief: success requires working harder. When you embark on an exciting encore career or launch your own business, your default operating system might trick you into thinking that relentless hustle is the only path forward. It might also feel invigorating and motivating - for a while!

Operating from this default setting often leads straight to burnout, something that we were trying to avoid while in the clutches of your former corporate hustle.

We are traditionally taught a backward model of "have, do, be." We tell ourselves that when we begin an encore career, or particularly when we have our own business, we will do the work to control our schedule, and then we will be happy.

Upgrading your iOS flips this script to "be, do, have." You must first embody the characteristics of the person you want to be. From that authentic identity, you adopt the necessary behaviours and take the necessary actions, which ultimately allow you to achieve the outcome you desire.

Tracy's Story: A sudden realization at Oxford
Tracy received a powerful wake-up call about her internal operating system. While sitting at a roundtable with other executives in Oxford, she experienced a sudden, undeniable realization. The purpose of the organization she dedicated her career to was no longer aligned with her personal purpose and the legacy she wanted to leave in the world. Or, perhaps the other way round, because our values do evolve, and it is unrealistic to believe that there will be perfect alignment as we age and explore our potential. To reach our full potential, we must first examine what we have outgrown - that is, self-actualization.

Tracy's internal wiring tried to keep her safe by making excuses to stay. But it was clear that she recognized she was at the crossroads. She walked out of that room, told her husband she was leaving her role, and took the bold step toward her true calling as an entrepreneur.

Establishing dynamic balance through Polarity Intelligence
Achieving sustainable success in your encore years requires understanding Polarity Intelligence®. This framework, developed by Tracy and Michelle, involves managing interdependent pairs of values that need to be honoured equally to achieve a greater purpose.

A prime example is the balance between "being" and "doing." High-achieving women are exceptionally good at getting things done; "doing". However, you must take equal action on "being" the person you want to become. Establishing this dynamic balance ensures that you do not over-focus on tasks while neglecting your personal evolution and well-being.

Michelle's Story: Releasing the corporate identity
Michelle’s transition reveals how deeply our identities intertwine with our past successes. As a highly successful global thought leader, Michelle naturally assumed she could simply replicate her past actions in her new business.
She did not immediately realize how tightly her identity was bound to her corporate role. She kept one toe in the old world, trying to bridge two different lives. Eventually, she recognized that true success as an entrepreneur required her to let go entirely of her former constraints. She had to step fully into her new identity as a 24/7 entrepreneur to create the life she truly wanted.
