Unlock Your Decision-Making Potential: Align Your Authentic Energy for Transformation
Jul 04, 2025What if the change you’ve been waiting for doesn’t take years to unfold? What if a single decision, backed by newfound clarity, could launch you into the purposeful, fulfilling life that you’ve been dreaming of? Tina Brigley, a guest on the Executive Encore video podcast, has helped countless individuals uncover their authenticity, break free from limiting beliefs, and achieve profound change. Her insights and teachings can elevate your life, health, work and business in ways that feel not just possible, but inevitable.
Here, we’ll explore three of Tina’s most powerful insights (and somewhat controversial) to help you start seeing your life and work through a new lens in your Executive Encore and reframe what could be possible into what is inevitable.
People Lie, Energy Doesn’t
Have you ever walked into a room and felt the energy shift before anyone even spoke? My preference is to be one of the first in the room to feel and manage the energy as people arrive - very much an introvert's strategy. The unspoken truth of human connection, energy reveals what words often don’t. Tina emphasizes the importance of aligning your energy with your true self. It means showing up as your best, of course, and leaving behind the masks we often wear for approval or protection - masks are our coping strategy.
Why is it so important to show up as our true, authentic selves? Let’s dig into why authenticity matters! Believe it or not, being our authentic self is magnetic. There's no one else like you, which in itself exudes magnetic and positive magical powers in forming mutually satisfying relationships. Whether in business, personal relationships, or the relationship we have with ourselves, authenticity attracts the opportunities and people that are right for you. It’s about letting your energy reflect who you are: a person with strong values and intentions. Once you get the hang of your authentic energy, you won’t have to chase success anymore. You will approach life and work with more ease and grace, and success will come naturally.
Simple Ways to Harness Your Authentic Energy:
- Take a moment to assess your thoughts before making any significant decision. Are your thoughts rooted in your values or shaped by fear? Are your thoughts, decisions, and actions aligned with your values and your goals?
- Download "Thoughts, Emotional Intentions, and Triggers: From Thoughts to Outcomes and Results" below and discover how your intentions and mindset shape your thoughts and emotions in your "inner world" and translate into decisions, actions, and outcomes in your "outer world."
- Seek feedback from trusted peers or mentors who support your growth, not just for your comfort but for truthful and sometimes direct input and feedback. Remember that you are the one who ultimately makes the final decision. However, feedback can be both validating and provide a fresh perspective. When you have been open to input and feedback, how often have you said "I never thought of it that way."
- Implement consistent self-reflection and self-awareness practices. Whatever practice fits well for you.
- Keeping a simple journal of daily reflections on what feels "right" or "off" in your interactions and choices can serve as a record of your most valuable internal conversations.
- A whiteboard works for one of my clients who keeps an ongoing list of triggers she experiences and behaviours that add or distract from who she wants to be. When she feels the energy to address something on her list, she might bring it to our coaching call or address it in her private self-reflection time.
Transformation Doesn’t Take Years
We often think of transformation as a slow process, one that takes years of incremental progress to yield results. Tina shatters this myth. She believes that profound change can happen in an instant when the right action meets the right mindset. That pivotal moment may come when you hear a new idea, challenge an old belief, or decide, “Enough is enough.”
Think about a single choice that changed everything for you in the past. Perhaps leaving a job, ending a relationship, taking an opportunity, or even having a tough conversation with another person or yourself. Transformation begins the moment you allow it. The same principle applies to your Executive Encore phase.
Steps to Create Transformational Moments in Your Executive Encore:
- Get Clear on Your ‘Why’. Pause and revisit your deeper purpose. Why do you want this change, and what’s the cost of staying the same?
- Focus on One Action. Often, one intentional step moves you closer to what you desire than dozens of half-hearted tries. To avoid the overwhelm, I ask my clients, "What's the very NEXT step?"
- Leverage Mentorship. Mentors and coaches help you identify blind spots and guide you toward actions that accelerate growth.
You have everything it takes to create meaningful change right now. The question is, will you?
People Don’t Go Through Life with Free Will and Choice
We often believe that our decisions are entirely the result of our conscious judgment. Tina explains that much of what we do is influenced by unconscious patterns and beliefs. These automatic responses are shaped by factors such as our upbringing, past experiences, or societal pressures. While these unconscious patterns and beliefs can protect us, they can also hold us back and prevent us from reaching our full potential. While our intuition is to be valued and honoured, it is worth checking inward, "Is this my intuition speaking, or is it something holding me back?"
Recognizing these subconscious forces that continually hold you back is the critical first step to reclaiming your true power. Imagine what your life could look like if every decision aligned with empowering your future self, not dictated or sabotaged by fear or outdated stories, or influenced by the lowest common denominator of "common-sense".
Unlocking True Freedom:
- Identify Limiting Beliefs: Write down phrases you find yourself repeating, such as, “I’m too old to start something new.” The real risk comes when we internalize limiting beliefs and stereotypes, which hinder our growth and happiness.
- Reframe Your Narrative: Replace limiting beliefs with empowering truths. For instance, “My experience is my superpower.”
- Challenge the Stereotype Narrative: Utilize your superpower to challenge stereotypes and avoid being complicit in perpetuating them, even when delivered as a joke. For example, stereotypes that promote ageism, sexism, or any other bias that undermines respect for others and ourselves.
- Mindful Decision-Making: Before making choices, ask, "Is this action in line with my purpose, or am I just staying comfortable?"
Once you start peeling back these layers, you reconnect with your innate superpower to choose and transform.
The life you’ve envisioned is closer than you think. What are you waiting for? Take that leap today!
